Spanish computer ads in Google AdSense

I was surprised this afternoon after uploading several stories to see Spanish-themed graphical banners for USANotebook.com in place of the normative text-based ads Google AdSense streams to my site.

While I normally see a variation of this:

...I noted a couple instances of this (without and without HTML markup displaying the banner):

Anyone else ran into this? I've been running AdSense for almost 3 months and this ie the first time I've seen it be graphical or non-English.

I live in an area where Spanish is a heavily used language. It's not uncommon for things to be in Spanish and English. I guess Google is getting in on the Spanish-speaking market.

    Hi Erica,

Thanks for the insight. I've noticed pretty heavy rotation of those ads I mentioned over the past few days...the only thing I can surmise is that USANotebook.com might be running some sort of campaign and bought-up big-time Google ads.

I'm building a new site with 1 text adsense unit and am seeing about 20% of the ads in spanish.

I'm a bit surprised since there isn't much spanish spoken where I live (Canada).

Interesting...I just noticed a couple of Japanese ads running in AdSense this afternoon after I did an update.
