My pilgrimage to Mecca
I'm mapping out my team's itinerary for a whirlwind trip to NYC to pick up our National Edward R. Murrow Award for Best News Web Site (no, I will never tire of saying that), and delightfully there's a B&N conviniently located right down the street from my hotel. Freakin' a!KB Toys used to be heaven on earth for me when I'd vacation to the mainland as a kid, but I've grown to enjoy good bookstores. The Borders at the Ward Centre in Honolulu kicks ass and I lost count of the shops in Seattle. I can do without the coffee, poetry readings, live music and apron-garbed staff - just gimme an endless inventory of MSRP-listed quality stuff.

Jason,
I'm in Hoboken, NJ. About 2 mins from NYC. Map here...

If you want to get some people together for a geek dinner, let me know. I've got a new baby, but could be fun.

Hi John,
Thanks! That sounds really cool. I'll be on a pretty accelerated schedule, as we'll only be in town for about 30 hours, but if I can fit it in, I'll let you know!

Dear Mr. Salas,
I know this is completely random, but I just wanted to recommend something for you and the KUAM team to do in NYC. You guys have to check out the ButterCup Bake shop. I think it's on 52nd and 3rd. I'm not exactly sure, but it's really good. There are so many cupcakes in differnet flavors and frosting! There's even a velvet cake cupcake! so please...if you guys have time, check out the buttercup bake shop or even Magnolia.
:)
